SWC’s COMMUNITIES PLAY PROGRAM

Communities Play is SWC’s sports equipment collection, distribution and supply program.

Volunteer Trip 2006, "Turning a Double Play"
October 31 - November 7, 2006 (revised dates)

Highlights

(Due to flight unavailability, the return date has been changed from November 5 to November 7. Volunteers can still choose to arrive October 29, if desired.)

SWC is thrilled to offer our Mexico trip for vacationers and volunteers in 2006. You are invited to join us for a truly inspirational trip to help the kids or vacation as you please. As usual, we will be working to supply much needed sports equipment and skills clinics to communities and schools with little or no resources. We ask that you save at least one of your check-in baggage spaces (preferably both) on our Alaska Airlines flight for a bag of sports equipment (that we can provide) that will be donated during the trip.

This trip, entitled “Turning a Double Play,” will be centered in Loreto, Baja California Sur. We will fly into Loreto on the beautiful Sea of Cortez coast and stay at the Hacienda Suites. During our stay we will work in and around Loreto, as well as trek to the north of Insurgentes (Puerto Adolfo Lopez Mateos, Ignacio Zaragoza, Valle Santo Domingo) to benefit more children in need. At the end of the week, we will participate in an exhibition softball game and celebrate new friendships at our farewell dinner party. And, for those of you who can/want to stay longer, we will work to benefit other areas surrounding Insurgentes with another celebration dinner party to follow! If you would like to see a 10-minute DVD or video (MUST SEE!) about our volunteer trip, please contact us for a loaner copy. Or, we can email you a link to our online photo album of past volunteer trips . . . just let us know!

Other activities for vacationers and volunteers alike include a beach trip, cave paintings tour, big game fishing, horseback riding, jet skiing, kayaking, mission tours (by car, bicycle, or mule), mountain bike tours, snorkeling, and whale watching.

The dates for this trip are Tuesday, October 31, to Tuesday, November 7, 2006. Cost for the 7-day trip per person, double occupancy, is $755 from Los Angeles, $880 from San Francisco, and $955 from Seattle. Add $200 if rooming alone. (For other departure cities, please contact SWC for more information.) EXTEND your trip 2 days (depart October 29, OR return November 9) for only $90 extra, or 4 days (both) for $180 extra!

Included in the costs is airfare, hotel, breakfast, all group/SWC work-related ground transportation, and SWC volunteer T-shirts. Not included are costs for extra activities. (A separate form for extra activities will be sent at a later date.) Some of this trip is tax-deductible, please consult your personal tax advisor. Accounting for all trip expenses will be provided to each volunteer at the end of the trip and all unused monies will be reimbursed.

A $100 deposit is due by September 1, 2006. (If a deposit is not received by October 1, you can still travel with us, depending on flight and space availability, with a late processing fee of $100.) Deposits are fully refundable until September 15th. If you cancel AFTER September 15th, there is a $60 cancellation fee on top of any airline ticket costs paid in your behalf). TRIP MUST BE PAID IN FULL BY OCTOBER 1st.

If you would like to help the children but are unable to travel on this trip, please consider a tax-deductible contribution to SWC.

Sounds like a great trip . . . sign me up!
