Volunteer Trip 2005, "Forging New Frontiers" December 4-11, 2005
Highlights
SWC is thrilled to offer our Mexico trip for vacationers and volunteers in 2005. You are invited to join us for a truly inspirational trip to help the kids or vacation as you please. As usual, we will be working to supply much needed sports equipment and skills clinics to communities and schools with little or no resources. We ask that you save at least one of your check-in baggage spaces (preferably both) on our Alaska Airlines flight for a bag of sports equipment (that we can provide) that will be donated during the trip.
This trip, entitled “Forging New Frontiers,” will be centered in Loreto, Baja California Sur. We will fly into Loreto on the beautiful Sea of Cortez coast and stay at the Hacienda Suites or La Pinta Hotel. During our stay we will work in and around Loreto, as well as trek to Insurgentes to visit more children and benefit their recently formed little leagues. At the end of the week, we will participate in an exhibition softball game and celebrate new friendships at our farewell dinner party. And, for those of you who can/want to stay longer, we will work to benefit other areas surrounding Insurgentes with another celebration dinner party to follow! If you would like to see a 10-minute DVD or video (MUST SEE!) about our volunteer trip, please contact us for a loaner copy. Or, we can email you a link to our online photo album of past volunteer trips . . . just let us know!
Other activities for vacationers and volunteers alike include a beach trip, cave paintings tour, big game fishing, horseback riding, jet skiing, kayaking, mission tours (by car, bicycle, or mule), mountain bike tours, snorkeling, and whale watching.
The dates for this trip are Sunday, December 4, to Sunday, December 11, 2005 (or Thursday, December 15). Cost for the 7-day trip per person, double occupancy, is $750 from Los Angeles, $820 from San Francisco, and $970 from Seattle (add $160 to each departure city for the 11-day option). Add $140 ($220 for the 11-day option) if rooming alone. For other departure cities, please contact SWC for more information.
Included in the costs is airfare, hotel, breakfast, all group/SWC work-related ground transportation, and SWC volunteer T-shirts. Not included are costs for extra activities. (A separate form for extra activities will be sent at a later date.) Some of this trip is tax-deductible, please consult your personal tax advisor. Accounting for all trip expenses will be provided to each volunteer at the end of the trip and all unused monies will be reimbursed.
A $100 deposit is due by October 1, 2005. (If a deposit is not received by October 1, you can still travel with us, depending on flight and space availability, with a late processing fee of $100.) Deposits are fully refundable until October 15th. If you cancel AFTER October 15th, there is a $60 cancellation fee. TRIP MUST BE PAID IN FULL BY NOVEMBER 1st.
If you would like to help the children but are unable to travel on this trip, please consider a tax-deductible contribution to SWC.
